Let the adventure begin

After 10 months of planning we are away, spoilt in first class, tired yet excited.

Got ourselves comfy and the on board chef asked if he could cook us a tasting menu, ok why not, then tiredness set in and we could have missed it but once we started eating it hit the spot. Quite a turbulent flight, at one stage I thought my coffee was leaving the cup while I was moving down!!!

Arrived in Abu Dhabi and as we landed we watched the "pilot camera" and actually saw us land!!!!! Scary yet cool. Through the airport no dramas except it felt like our cases got "washed" in Melbourne because of the rain, as long as my clothes aren't soaked, they weren't, then no issues. Waiting for the car to take us to the hotel and the heat set upon us. Yes, it is hot.

Arrived at our hotel with am option to upgrade our room, which we decided to do, showers, coffee and where do we go???? We ventured downstairs and asked the places to go. Off to the Marina Mall which was a huge Chadstone except with a revolving restaurant in a tower, ice rink and no cars in the car park!!!!

We thought the Heritage Village was something to see and only up the road so decided to walk it........two mistakes - the village was nothing and we had to then walk back in the heat, which at this stage was at least 40. Workout.......possibly.

Taxi to the worlds only 7 star hotel, The Emirates Palace. OMG, gold leaf everywhere, big rolex's telling the time and and just beautiful. They have the first gold ATM, you can buy gold in it!!! Don't quite know how you would fix a jam in it.....

Thirsty, hot and hungry we decided to eat there. A coffee with gold leaf in it, wraps and chick pea fritters. Awesome experience. The female staff looked like they were from Aladdin, beautiful.

Back to the hotel and had a snooze, then some dinner then bed. It is almost 5 here so soon showers, breakfast then off to the Grand Mosque and hopefully some markets.
