Down among the dead men.....the bowels of Paris.

Last trip we wanted to go to the Catacombs but they were closed so this time we thought we would try again. Walked to them, experiencing beautiful Paris along the way, to be greeted with a 2-3 hour wait to get in! Oh well, it is what you do......enjoyed lunch from a bakery while we were waiting and watched daily life in Paris.

The Catacombs were built in the 1700's and are all under Paris. Due to cemeteries being over crowded the bones were dug up and placed under ground. A very interesting place. There are many tunnels of bones you cannot go into but the ones you do it is fascinating how they stacked the bones up.

A rather steep and curved stair case and back out to day light. Taxi back to the hotel, dinner soon and early night for a trip to Bruges tomorrow.
