Three sleeps on Trst.

Up early once more, bags down the stairs, and off to Trieste. Trieste is on the Italian Coast and is a port town. Some how 8 kms disappeared while driving.

We are staying at a serviced apartment but as we were early we went wandering. Beautiful square in the centre, lovely port too.

Lunch then back to organise ourselves, laughing as we tried to work out what was laundry powder in the shop. Then we thought we would go for a ride on the tram that goes up the hill. But it was broken so we decided to find the fort we had seen. Many steps, hill walks, windy roads and cobble stones and old buildings we found not only the fort but also a beautiful old Church. There are many old Churches in Europe, some more beautiful than others and this one was beautiful. Then we went to the fort. You could see yourself protecting your town with arrows, guns and cannons.

Walked back, put the washing on and found a small cafe and had some pasta for dinner. Back to the room, just snuggled down and the fire alarm went off. Walked down the 6 flights of stairs thinking I might get to see some nice Italian eye candy but no, they didn't arrive. Glad I didn't sit in the stairwell waiting for them to carry me down. Back up to our room, snuggled down again and slept solid.

Woke up at 8 again and thought we would try to visit Piran. Only one problem, we couldn't find the bus station, after searching we were told it is next to the train station.....where is the train station.......finally found the train station, mmmmm we could go to Rome......too far so we decided to have a sneak peak at Venice. What a lovely day, venice is awesome. Crowded but beautiful the canals are busy with boats, the bridges are beautiful decorated. Excited for Thursday.

Back to Trieste and decided to have a late dinner. We ended up having Greek in Italy. Then walked to the square where a lovely little old Italian lady proceeded to tell me the history of the square in Italian. Smiled and nodding works every time. Dusan took some lovely photos then back to the apartment for bed.

Another 8 am start and we caught a local bus to Castello di Miramare. Awesome. No other words can describe, just awesome. The bus was crowded, I practised my Italian bus pole dancing......we wandered through beautiful gardens to the castle and then went inside. The first floor is 18th century beauty and opulence, the second floor has furniture from when it was inhabited in the 1930's, so different in time. You are unable to take photos inside but I did sneak a few before I was informed. Magnifico.

Lunch was beside some where where I left my yacht. The day had turned out awesome and all the locals had come out to sunbake and perhaps swim. No beach, they bring their yoga mats, chairs etc and there are cement places they can set up. Different......

Back to the apartment, snooze, dinner now organising ourselves for an early morning train ride to Venice.
