Venezia.

Of course another early morning and it was stormy, humid and pouring with rain. We could have walked to the station, yes we did find it!!!!, but we got a taxi. We had purchased out tickets the previous day so sat in the coffee shop and thought a coffee prior to getting on the train. Some how we ended up with a wonderful glass of frothy warm milk!!! But it did hit the spot.

Suitcases on the train and off we went. The rivers and canals we flew past were flowing with water, it must have rained heaps the night before. Some of the old farm house buildings looked like they were the "villa" that Patsy went to in Ab Fab that was the wrong one. Lovely trip.

Arrived in Venice. Two options - water taxi or public taxi. The public taxi would have meant crowding on with two suitcases and trying to work out where so we got a water taxi. Sometimes it is easier to spend the money!!!!

Down a small canal and we arrived at our home for two nights. Very nice.

As it was a few hours till Andrea and Braden arrive so we thought we would go for a walk. Turn left, turn right, over a bridge, turn right, over a bridge, straight ahead.......where are we. Oh well, let's look in a shop or two. Beautiful masks, glass and costumes everywhere.

Asked where we were and our reaction was......we have walked that far?!.......turn left, turn right, over a bridge, straight ahead........somehow we ended up at the Rialto Bridge. I don't know what it looks like or what the view is as there were so many people on it ........wrong way again but found the most BEAUTIFUL Munaro glass lights of hot air balloons.....yes, Heather, they ship.......so have the web sites.

Finally found our way back, quick snooze then outside to wait for the Robinsons. Yay.....they arrived.

Left their stuff and off we went. Found St Marcos Square, beautiful even with 10000 other people there.

More wandering, then dinner just down from where we are staying. All tired yet extremely relaxed.

Friday morning, showers then we took a free tour to Murano to see how the glass is made. The tour was great, you didn't have to buy but Andrea did buy an elephant and we bought a clock. It was amazing to see the glass being blown and creating all sorts of things.

Back to The main island then we took a ferry to Burano for a leisurely lunch and a wander round this small island where all the homes are painted different colours.

Back on the ferry, and walking sprung again. I keep getting totally lost, every shop, canal, lane all look the same...I could not be a tour guide here and I would miss this leg and take a penalty on this leg of the Amazing Race!!!!

Wonderful dinner, heaps of laughs and then off to bed.

Next Royal Caribbean, Splendour of the Seas.......

  1. Venice is my favourite place. After visiting Venice when I was 18 yrs old it is still in my memory.
