Two Days in Jakarta, Indonesia.

After not sleeping much we decided to go for a walk and see what was around. We thought we would look for some sort of coffee shop or at least a Maccas for some breakfast and coffee. Walking around, very humid and smoggy, everything was closed and where was Maccas? Walked a bit more and saw KFC and even though we never go there thought they at least would have a coffee..........waffles seemed a great idea however they only had one! So we decided to head back to the Hotel and have breakfast there. It was a lovely breakfast, wonderful coffee and felt very full.
Back to the room and our dear friend and substitute daughter Sari joined us at the Hotel. We met her in Bali 7 years ago and have stayed in touch ever since. We decided to walk across the road to the shopping centre. We have never seen anything like it, Chadstone has nothing on this! It was clean, uncluttered and had some beautiful shops. We saw Zara, Marks & Spencer's to name a few. There was also a huge games area complete with a roller coaster and a ride that was hot air balloons!

We wandered around and then decided on a Korean place for lunch. We had some crab dumplings, crispy chicken wings and a chicken noodle soup. Very nice and it was fun.

Then back to the Hotel and Sari and I had a sleep.
Sari headed off for work and we slowly got ready and headed back to the HardRock for dinner. We had a jumbo combo and another nacho and cocktails. We met some of the staff and they were extremely welcoming and friendly. But we left at about 8.30 as we were exhausted and soon were tucked in sound asleep.
Woke up at about 4.30, stupid time zones, and then we went back to sleep to wake to sounds of sirens outside. When we looked outside the road was not full of cars, bikes and buses but full of people on bikes and walking. Every Sunday they close the street and you can ride bikes and walk. So clothes on quick and off we went to join in.

What fun it was, all sorts of bikes, families, food carts, groups cycling and we walked on the road! We took photos, got invited into people's photos and had photos taken on the fountain edge. Everyone was saying hello and smiling. The atmosphere was electric! I was waiting for Dusan to take some phots and an old lady was going to me "you buy, you buy" she was funny.
Walked up the road with everyone then back again and were glad for the walk. Then back to the Hotel, coffee time then Sari came and we set off again to the other big shopping centre. Massive as well we wandered around just feeling relaxed and happy. We had some wonderful Indonesian food for lunch. Don't ask me what it was cuz I don't know, but what I do know is that it was extremely favour some and I could not feel my tongue at the end!

All good things come to an end and we showered, packed up and said a very sad goodbye to Sari. Car to the airport, checked in and now waiting in the lounge to board our flight.
Next stop........Dubai then Amsterdam.
