The best day ever and lunch at 102 metres

We packed up all our stuff and caught the 8.30 free shuttle bus to the station. Movenpick was a wonderful place to stay and would stay there again. Then we found the right platform and waited for the first of many trains to come. One hour later we were at Antwerp...........and on the platform right in front of us was Martine and Robert. How wonderful to meet a person who you shared secrets with as teenagers. Two strangers from other sides of the world meeting, how great.




Antwerp was an amazing place. We walked around, saw beautiful old buildings, had coffee then went to the Mars Museum to the top look out and saw Antwerp from above. The docks were on one side which are the largest docks in Belgium where a lot of cargo comes in then is trucked all around Europe. The Church steeples rose above the buildings and the trams ran around like ants. A great view.




We weren't allowed to have much lunch (Martine's orders) but ate a wonderful toasted sandwich at a small shop, the simple things! Then we walked back through the town to the Jewish quarter which has rows of shops which sell a girls best friend! Yes, I walked out with a beautiful ring chose by my husband. 18 carot white gold, nine diamonds and totally beautiful!

Then off to Leopoldsburg. The journey on the freeway saw Robert driving at 140 kms per hr part of the way past trucks and also factories, trees, modern windmills and some of the cutest little houses. We arrived at Au Prince Royal which is our home until Monday. A cute old pub with a cute steep stair case and in the room a balloon with our names on it welcoming us.........just perfect!




A short break then we walked up the street for dinner. Martine has a beautiful home and we met her two sons Tom and Vincent. Lovely young men. Dinner was lasagne and cheese and all good things. We walked back to the hotel and did not take long to fall asleep.




Up early in the morning for our trip to Brussels. Drove approx 30 mins to the station and caught a train. No issues and off we hopped and started walking, around every corner was new things to see. The centre of Brussels is a beautiful square with magnificent buildings all around, you start looking, then see something else then get distracted by see thing else and so on. So old too.


We walked around and saw manneken pis, which is a tiny statue of a boy having a piss! They dress him up everyday. Very popular and very cute. We then walked more, saw more old buildings, saw the Royal Palace and then caught a train to the Atomium, this was build for a world expo held in Brussels. We caught the lift up the the top and then went to the restaurant for lunch. So high up, beautiful views of all of Brussels, wonderful food and the best company. Who could ask for more?




Time to go back and we ended up running to catch the train but made it in time. Had a nana nap on the train and so did Robert. Back to Leopoldsburg, dinner with wonderful friends and now about to go to sleep.




Tomorrow we finally meet the VIP...............no, we do not know either!
