Our morning with the VIP

The instructions for the day were simple: be ready at 9.30, dressed in good clothes, hair, make up etc. pretty easy........except.........we went down to iron Dusan's jeans and shirt and realised that the jeans he packed were actually my jeans..........so we had showers and he made a mad dash around the streets to find a shop open that sold jeans. Found a shop, found jeans so problem solved. Back, dressed and Martine arrived with her son Vincent with a video camera.

Down stairs and the fun begun. "Are we nervous?", "are we excited?", "who is the VIP"..........then a young gentleman walked in and up to me and introduced himself from the local paper and were we really from Australia, how did we come to be here and how much he loved our accents. Vincent was filming the whole time and then our driver came in all dressed in a rather spectacular uniform. He sat down, had a coffee and then it was time to go. We walked out and got into a small fire truck! A lovely drive around Leopoldsburg and then we arrived at the Fire Station. Vincent had the camera rolling so had to descend from the car without trying to do my best Brittany Spears impression!

Into the Station we went and met the VIP.........it was Martine's husband Robert who is the Fire Commander! Such fun......the "reporter" was a good friend of Vincent's. we were shown around the Fire Station which was extremely interesting. Was able to have a wear of the jackets and hats which were very heavy. Such a wonderful surprise and a wonderful morning!
