The only thing we can say is it was long. There was lovely scenery, and lovely scenery but it got long and hot...........finally we arrived we arrived in Salzburg, stepped out of the train and all we could smell was cow shit.........and we always thought Dandenong was bad! Found a taxi and made our way to the hotel that would be home for 4 nights.

Dropped bags off, cameras in hand we walked towards the Old City and found ourselves in lane ways of old buildings, cobble stones and beautiful flowers. Despite the smell it was lovely. We crossed the river to the old city and explored just a small portion. We went into one shop and found the most beautiful balloon picture. (No surprises there). (Photos when we get home as it is all bubble wrapped up). It was lovely.

Back across the river and up a small lane way which we found a lovely small bottle shop carved into the side of the hill. Walked further, found a lovely place to eat....pizza and gnocchi Gorgonzola and a lovely bottle of wine. Back to the hotel for a well earned rest.

Got up, showered, breakfast and at 8.30 off we went. Wandering through the streets a new sight at every turn. Over the bridge to the old city and we found a Saturday market with lovely stalls with cheeses, meats and pretzels. Bought some lunch there and off we went to the Hohensalzburg Fortress. On the way found one of several Catholic Churches for the day. Must stop walking around with my mouth open. Words can not describe the beauty and majestic ness of the Churches we went in.

To get to the Castle we went up in a cable car and then our exploring continued with the exploring. We saw beautiful scenery, marionettes, old furniture and Dusan is positive it would be a great place live.

For the next I don't know how many hours we walked around, saw the head quarters for Red Bull, more old Churches, St Peters Cemetery which was the inspiration for the escape scene in The Sound of Music and just beautiful everywhere we turned. We found a lovely place and had a coffee and cupcakes and finally got back to the hotel.

Tomorrow we are going to take a hop on hop off bus around several places from the Sound of Music, so good night and more later xo.
